The Palm Beach Branch of the English-Speaking Union again awarded scholarships to teachers to attend Summer school in Britain. 2008 scholarships were awarded to:
Ms. Sue Vance, of Lake Worth Community H.S. who attended Edinburgh University, and Ms. Carly Gates, of Seminole Ridge, Loxahatchee, who attended Oxford University.
Ms. Vance and Ms. Gates spoke about their experiences in the U.K. at our meeting on Friday, December 12, 2008. Teachers interested in applying for 2009 scholarships were invited to attend as our guests. For full details of this event please go to the "Recent Events" page.

The English-Speaking Union of the United States was pleased again to offer fellowships to teachers for Summer studies in the U.K. at Oxford University, Edinburgh, or the Globe Theatre. The fellowships offer tuition, room and some, although not all, meals. In addition to study, fellows will be able to participate in field trips and social activities.
The Palm Beach Branch again awarded scholarships to two local high school teachers to participate in this program. The recipients are Ms. Danielle Reed and Ms. Lindsey Janofky. Both are English teachers at Jupiter High School, and both chose to attend the "Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance" classes at the Globe Theatre. We wish them well, and look forward to hearing of their experiences in the Fall.
Teachers at High School or University level who may be interested in applying for scholarships for fellowships in 2010 should get in touch with the Committee Chairman:
Mr. John Farrell (561) 659-9704
