The primary aim of the English-Speaking Union is to foster and strengthen friendly contacts and relationships among the English-speaking peoples.
It is our hope that the widespread use of English as a common language will help to increase the international understanding and amity so necessary for the maintenance of peace in to-day’s world.
The English-Speaking Union of the United States was founded in 1920 by Sir Evelyn Wrench, and is non-profit, non-partisan, non-political and non-governmental. It now has eighty branches, and, with its affiliates in thirty-six countries, is dedicated to improving the quality of scholarship and the advancement of knowledge through the increasingly common use of the English language in a growing international community.
It is tax-exempt, being supported entirely by the dues, contributions and bequests of members.
